Xero Subscription Price Changes from 1 October 2026
Xero has announced subscription price increases for New Zealand customers effective from 1 October 2026. The changes affect both partner and business plans, with increases across Ledger, Cashbook, Ignite, Grow, Comprehensive and Ultimate subscriptions. Businesses using Xero Payroll on Ultimate plans with more than 10 employees will also see an increase in the per-employee payroll charge.
At TAEL, we wanted to give our clients advance notice so there are no surprises when future Xero subscription invoices are issued. If you have any questions about how these changes may affect your business or would like to discuss whether your current Xero plan remains the best fit for your needs, please get in touch with our team.

Fathom Pricing Update
Fathom has advised that it will be increasing its subscription pricing from September 2026. The increase has been attributed to ongoing investment in product development, platform enhancements, AI-powered features, forecasting improvements, and continued integration with accounting software providers.
If your business currently uses Fathom for reporting, forecasting, or management insights, you may notice an increase in your subscription costs from your next billing cycle following September 2026.

Upcoming Changes to Employment Leave Rules
The Government has passed the new Employment Leave Act, which will replace the Holidays Act 2003 and introduce significant changes to how employee leave is calculated and managed. Key changes include leave accruing in hours rather than days, leave entitlements building from an employee's first day of work, new rules for casual and additional hours, and increased flexibility to cash up annual leave. While the changes are not expected to take effect until 2028, employers should start familiarising themselves with the new requirements and be prepared for future updates to payroll systems, employment agreements, and leave policies.
