Is Your Business Healthy?
Running a business often feels fast, reactive, and relentless. Between managing a team, keeping customers happy, and making sure the money keeps flowing, most business owners are too busy doing the work to stop and check whether the business itself is actually healthy.
At Tael Business Advisors, we see this every day — great businesses struggling simply because they’ve never taken the time to pause, review, and get clarity.
That’s why we created the Business Health Check Workbook.
This is designed especially for trade and service‑based businesses who want clarity, direction, and practical next steps — without the jargon.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re constantly putting out fires or “guessing your way through business,” this tool will help you stop reacting and start leading.

How to Make End of Year Easy (Without the Accounting Headache)
If End of Year makes you groan, you’re not alone.
For most trade and service-based business owners, it’s the same story every year:
- receipts everywhere
- missing invoices
- bank accounts that haven’t been coded in months
- and a mad scramble when we ask for information.
The good news? End of Year doesn’t have to be stressful.
In fact, with a few simple habits throughout the year, End of Year can become just another task — not a crisis.
We have a blog that explains how to manage your paperwork all year round so End of Year is fast, painless, and drama free.

2027 Home Office Template
What’s changing?
From this year onward, we are moving to a standardised home office template for all clients who claim home office expenses. This is a change from our previous process and is designed to make year end compliance simpler, more accurate, and more efficient for you.
Why complete it as you go?
We strongly recommend updating the template regularly rather than leaving it until year end. Completing it as the year progresses:
• Reduces the risk of missed or forgotten expenses
• Improves accuracy by recording actual usage and costs in real time
• Saves time and stress at year end
• Helps us finalise your accounts and tax return more efficiently
• Supports stronger documentation should the claim ever be queried
Clients who keep this information up to date typically find year end significantly quicker and smoother.
Source documents still required
Please note that completing the home office template does not replace the need for source documents.
You are still required to:
• Upload invoices, bills, and supporting documents to Xero Files during the year, or
• Provide all relevant source documents to us at year end
These documents are required to substantiate the figures included in the template and to ensure your home office claim meets IRD record keeping requirements.
What you need to do
• Start using the attached template now
• Update it regularly during the year
• Submit the completed template with your annual information after 31 March 2027
